Advanced TESOL Diploma
We regularly receive enquiries from people who would like to teach overseas but who have not completed a bachelor's degree. In the past it was quite easy to teach in many countries without a degree, however that is changing and it is becoming more and more difficult. It is not only a school requirement but immigration authorities require a degree in order to grant you a visa to remain in their country for the duration of your contract with a school. In some countries, such as Thailand, you need to pass through three government ministries:
- Immigration grants a visa for the duration of your contract,
- Labour grants a work permit, and
- Education reviews your education documents and authorizes the other two ministries to proceed.
Ýour school will facilitate this, but you do have to have áll your documents, including a degree and a TESOL certificate to ensure you meet the requirements of most countries.
Sunbridge Institute of English has teamed up with Interfaith Academy to assist those people who want to teach overseas but are hampered by not having completed a bachelor's degree.
We shall assess your life and business experiences and submit these along with your TESOL Diploma and our recommendation to InterFaith Academy who will grant you a Bachelor Degree. InterFaith Academy is a non-profit, educational ministry and academy, legally incorporated in the State of Delaware, USA.
Requirements
1. Submit a complete resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV) to us. Be sure to outline all your post-high school experiences. It should include:
- all your work experiences, positions held, length of time, responsibilities and what you learned.
- Any courses you may have taken whether business, leisure or other topics. Summarize what you learned.
- Any teaching or training experiences you have had and how they have affected you.
- travel experiences.
- languages you speak and level of proficiency.
- anything else you feel should be included.
These will be assessed in order to grant you Prior Learning Credits (PLC) towards your diploma.
2. Completion of our TESOL course
3. Completion of one of our other teacher training courses:
- Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL)
- Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults (TEFLA)
- Teaching Business English (TBE) (Link coming soon!)
4. This diploma program will be credited towards a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (BA TESOL) through InterFaith Academy. Because of the nature of their organization, they have these two additional requirements:

InterFaith Academy can only offer this degree program if it has sufficient religious content. Therefore, they ask you to write a minimum 500 word biography on your personal faith and religious beliefs, based on YOUR feelings and opinions, not the opinions of teachers you have learned from. They want you to provide personal honesty of your faith, which only YOU can provide. Please bear in mind that as an inter-faith organization, They make no judgement about your chosen faith but require this statement merely as part of your degree requirements.

You will write a minimum 2000 word thesis (excluding footnotes), discussing how you intend to apply this degree for the benefit of others. These should be written or typed on plain white letter-sized or A4 paper, double-spaced.
Please submit all requirements to Sunbridge Institute of English. The Interfaith Academy requirements should be submitted with your final TESOL assignment. We shall submit all your documentation to InterFaith Academy on your behalf. Your personal statement and thesis will be held in strictest confidence.
