SUNBRIDGE INSTITUTE OF ENGLISH
Certificate Course in
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)*
If your aim is to become an English teacher and teach English overseas, this is the best course for you to take....and because it offers online certification for teachers of English, you can take this course wherever you are in the world. All you need is access to the Internet!
TESOL certificate program
This course provides you with valuable, practical experience-based training in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). When you graduate from our course, you will have earned a TESOL certificate that will put you in demand as a qualified English teacher. The course is designed for teachers and prospective teachers whose first language is English or who are proficient in the language.A TESOL Certificate is a standard in ESL teaching. Our course has been recognized by schools around the world since 1998. Because of regional nomenclature and preferences, you may elect to take this as a TESOL Certificate, TESL Certificate (Teaching English as a Second Language) or TEFL Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). The three acronyms are pretty well synonymous. In Europe, schools ask for TEFL certification whereas in Asia and the Americas, they ask for either TESOL certification or TESL certification. Really, what they want to know is that when they hire you, they can be confident that they have hired a professionally trained teacher.
Want to travel and teach in Asia? We'll show you how to get there! Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and mainland China need THOUSANDS of English teachers RIGHT NOW!
Qualifications for ESL teachers
In most nations where ESL teachers are desperately needed, all that is usually required is a Bachelor's Degree, a TESOL certificate, and a desire to teach. If you are hired from Canada, USA, U. K., Australia, N. Z., etc., schools will often arrange necessary visas, work permits, housing, and will often even pay for your flight! You can sometimes get hired without a bachelor's degree but the better education you have, the more doors to an overseas teaching position that will open for you. Contact us if you don't have degree but would still like to take our course. We are here to help you to accomplish your goals of finding a teaching position overseas - not to turn you away!
TESOL Certification
Whether or not you have a BA, BSc, B Ed or other undergraduate degree, more and more overseas schools are now asking for an ESL qualification. You will see ads asking for TESOL, TEFL, TESL, or CELTA. CELTA is a British qualification and stands for Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults but our course is for teaching all age levels and thus is much broader in scope. Since most new teachers start off teaching in regular schools, it is important that the methologies they learn are applicable to all ages."Dear Dr. Taylor:
Let me thank you again for an interesting course. It covered a lot of ground but was easy to understand. I use the methodologies from the course that will help fill my objectives for a particular class. I feel that I have benefited from taking this TESOL course.
I am looking forward to receiving my certificate. Most schools here in China are only hiring teachers who have completed some sort of training course.
I will certainly recommend the Sunbridge course to any colleagues who are interested in improving their professional skills.
Regards,
Allen D, Xiamen , China"ESL Teacher Training
