Course Rationale and Outline

Students love to be 'hands on' in their learning. They learn faster and this makes it easier for the teacher. Modern day parlance for 'hands-on' is 'interactive'. Interactive lessons abound for all aspects of ESL teaching.

 

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the student will have a good understanding of the nature and value of interactive learning..

The student will be able to source and describe various interactive learning websites.

The student will also be familiar with interactive learning software and their appropriateness at various levels of comprehension.

Assignments:

The student will research 25 websites providing interactive lessons. S/he will then develop a pater summarizing these sites, their advantages and limitations and appropriateness at various age and comprehension levels. A good balance should be provided between listening, reading, writing and speaking. The paper should run approximately 16-20 pages not including cover, table of contents, etc.
